Steelers vs Redskins 2009

It was a rainy day in DC as our two favorite teams prepared to clash
in the preseason. As usual, the boys in the family repped the Skins
and the girls the Steelers. All we really wanted was a good injury
free game that we could all be proud of.

Nevertheless, the Redskins prevailed 17-13, and we left the stadium
hoarse, and satisfied by good football. We are excited for this year's
prospects for both the Steelers and the Redskins. Football is such a
great game.

We can only hope this is a prelude to the Superbowl this year.
Hopefully, we will get to see the second chapter of our two favorite
teams this year in Miami.

SE Titans take the Field

The little guys get to run out on the field to the screams of their fans. What a fantastic way to begin a season. Special thanks to DC Parks & Recreation for a well executed event and afternoon. It is truly special to have city support for athletics in Wards 7 & 8. Let's hope this continues into the classrooms to encourage our youth to strive for Academic Excellence. I will certainly do my part to make it happen.

Don't Text While Driving

This British Public Service Announcement (PSA) is very effective. It is disturbing on many levels, but its realism and true consequences are exactly what is needed. I know I have texted while driving on several occassions. I will no longer do it. Ask yourself is that message really that crucial? I think not.

Mighty Mighty Titans

Making our debut at Anacostia High in SE DC. This is where I grew up
and now my son is playing football representing the area. Life is great.

Anacostia is a strong community. Frederick Douglass even called it
home. Proud to see enthusiasm from the community to support youth
athletics. Builds discipline and a strong foundation of achievement.
Active body, active mind.

Envelopes and stamps

Scary Stuff…Envelopes and Stamps

A woman was working in a post
Office in California . One day she licked the
envelopes and postage stamps instead of using a sponge.
That very day the lady found a cut on her tongue. A week later, she noticed an abnormal swelling of
her tongue.
She went to the doctor, and they found nothing wrong..
Her tongue was not sore or anything.. A couple
of days later, her tongue started to swell more, and it began
to get really sore, so sore, that she could not eat. She
went back to the hospital, and demanded something be done.

The doctor took an x-ray of her tongue and noticed a
lump. He prepared her for minor surgery. When
The doctor cut her tongue open, a live cockroach crawled out!!!!

There were cockroach eggs on the seal of the
Envelope. The egg was able to hatch inside of
her tongue, because of her saliva, which was warm and moist...
This is a true story reported on CNN!

Andy Hume wrote: Hey, I used to work in an envelope
factory. You wouldn't believe the....things that float around in
those gum applicator trays. I haven't licked
an envelope for years!'

I used to work for a print shop(32 years ago), and we
were told NEVER to lick the envelopes. I never understood
why until I had to go into storage and pull out 2500
envelopes that were already printed and saw several squads
of cockroaches roaming around inside a couple of
boxes with eggs everywhere. They eat the glue
on the envelopes.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO YOUR FRIENDS!

After reading this you will never lick
Another envelope or stamp again.
